The Philosophy of the Actualize Approach to Therapeutic and Motivational Life Coaching - The How of Being
The
Actualize Philosophy
My approach to working with people is:
• Driven by a belief in our ability to grow, to change,
to aspire towards potentials, and to be able to define the lives
we want to be living.
• Respectful of difference and diversity.
• Grounded in the principles of human rights.
• Alert to the conditions of possibility existing in contemporary
society.
• Mindful of the centrality of relationship in human life.
My practice is guided by a unique synthesis
of psychology, philosophy and social theory, and my practice-philosophy
gravitates around three key themes:
"Live
all you can; it’s a mistake not to. It doesn’t so much matter
what you do in particular, so long as you have your life. If you haven’t
had that, what have you had?"
Henry James
"Never
give children a chance of imagining that anything exists in isolation.
Make it plain from the very first that all living is relationship. Show
them relationships in the woods, in the fields, in the ponds and streams,
in the village and the country around it"
Aldous Huxley (from Island)
