Counselling can give us new insights,
helping us to heal and grow and to live with greater happiness,
choice and freedom.
Hello and welcome to my website.
My name's Richard Askew. I'm an experienced integrative
counsellor living and working in Brighton and Hove. Alongside
my private practice, I work as a trainer and personal development
group facilitator on a Counselling Diploma course, I run therapeutic
writing courses, and I facilitate an M.E./CFS therapeutic support group.
My approach to counselling is collaborative, and focuses
on three areas: how we feel about ourselves, the nature of our relationships
with other people, and our sense of place in the world. I can offer you a
safe sanctuary where you can speak in utmost confidence, and my aim is to
help you live a richer, fuller life.
Whether you're living with depression, anxiety, or any other
emotional difficulties, my intention is to help you find a way forwards. I've
been able to support people living with difficulties related to low self-esteem,
sexual abuse, relationship difficulties and communication breakdown, self-harm,
living with M.E./CFS and other serious illnesses, pre-marital counselling, adoption,
bereavement, drug and alcohol misuse, mental health issues, migration and life in a
host community, work-related stress, personal development, disability, uncontrollable
anger, and adjusting to new life situations.
I have three established practices, near
Hove train station (BN3), close to Seven Dials (BN1), and
adjacent to Preston Park train station (BN1) where I offer:
When it's appropriate, I also offer:

on issues and ideas that I hope you will find of interest. In
the meantime, if you want to read about counselling, you'll find
some great recommendations here.

you can call me for a friendly informal chat on 01273 206174 or
